Get A Smile Makeover Using Dental Implants

November 8th, 2021

Over 156 million people in America are missing at least one tooth, which is why dentists are turning to dental implants for a long-lasting solution. Implants give a strong foundation for prosthetic teeth to ensure you have a natural appearance and reliable functionality.  Schedule a consultation with Hamilton Family Dentistry to see if a Smile Makeover using dental implants is right for you.

What is a Dental Implant?

A dental implant is a prosthetic tooth or set of teeth secured to your jaw utilizing one or more titanium screws. If the process goes as intended, your jawbone will gradually bond with the implants through a process called Osseointegration, accepting the implants like a natural part of your body. An abutment is placed between the implant and the prosthetic tooth to ensure  stability and security. Dental implants are a long-term solution when a patient is missing at least one tooth. The all-on-four Smile Makeover is typically recommended when all or most of the teeth are damaged or missing.

Facts About Dental Implants:

·        98% chance of success—far higher than any other comparable method. After 10 years, crowns were only 50-80% successful.

·        Stronger than removable dentures—50% of your natural bite power with dentures and 100% of your natural bite power with implants.

·        Long-Lasting—Implants can last 20 years or more.

Dental Implants vs Dentures

Implants and dentures can be great solutions for patients with tooth loss. Dentures have improved greatly over the years in terms of comfort and appearance. Implants provide a new smile that functions like natural teeth. Once implants are completed, the patient can chew normally. Implants are generally more costly than dentures, but many patients find the benefits to be worthwhile. Regardless of whether a patient chooses implants or dentures, we help each patient achieve the most comfortable, functional, and attractive smile possible.

Process

A consultation is the first step in the smile makeover journey. Through 3D scans, x-rays, and an exam, we will evaluate your oral health and bone health to ensure that your implants have the best chance of success. If you are a suitable candidate, we will build out a customized plan for your smile makeover. When you arrive to start your journey, our staff will make you comfortable for the experience. Sedation dentistry and local anesthesia can be utilized to keep you pain-free through the procedure. Your remaining problematic teeth will have to be removed to make room for your implants. We will place the implants and put temporary teeth in place while your body is given a chance to heal, and your custom prosthetic teeth are made. Once your body accepts your implants, your permanent teeth can be added. You will be amazed with how natural your new smile feels and looks.

If your smile needs a major makeover, schedule a consultation with Hamilton Family Dentistry. We will be happy to help you explore the possibilities with dental implants!

FAQ

  • How often should I visit your office?

We recommend patients visit our office two times each year for dental checkups.  These preventative visits are the standard in care as set forth by the American Dental Association and this is typically frequent enough to prevent most oral health concerns and diagnose others in the earliest stages.

  • What is periodontal disease?

Gum (periodontal) disease is a common oral health concern that occurs when plaque and tartar buildup irritates gum tissue and breaks down soft tissue and supportive jawbone structure leading to a number of oral health concerns.  We offer a variety of periodontal therapy options to renew oral health for patients suffering from gum disease.

  • Can I call you during dental emergencies?

We are happy to help patients during dental emergencies.  Don’t hesitate to contact us right away.  We provide same day appointments whenever possible and are happy to walk you through first aid and pain management over the phone.

  • Can I bring my kids to Hamilton Family Dentistry?

Absolutely.  We’re happy to provide pediatric dental care for young patients and we offer a variety of treatments specifically geared toward patients with growing smiles.

  • I get nervous at the dentist. What can you do to help?

In addition to treating each patient with the level of kindness and compassion they deserve, we also offer a variety of sedation dentistry solutions to help patients stay relaxed and pain free from the moment they arrive.

  • How will I know if I have a root canal infection?

The doctor will need to examine your tooth to find out for sure, but contact us right away if you experience any of the following common warning signs of root canal infection:

    • Severe toothache
    • Sensitivity to changes in temperature
    • Discoloration of a single tooth
    • Infection in the gums around a tooth
  • Do you offer financing plans?

We are happy to work with qualified patients to find low or no interest payment plans through two third party dentistry financiers, CareCredit and Lending Club.  Please ask us if you qualify for our financing options at your next appointment.
