Dental Sealants

Having an extra layer of protection for your teeth is always valuable. Dental sealants are a protective coating to help prevent cavities. Especially in younger patients, the extra protection is helpful since kids are not always going to get those hard to reach places. Although brushing and flossing will always be the best defense against cavities, sealants are a helpful addition as well. If you are considering sealants, explore the benefits and see if they would be a good fit for you or your family.

The Process:

Sealants are only possible when the tooth is clean and dry. We will use a suction tool to keep your mouth dry enough for the process. Adding sealants is completely pain-free and quick. We will apply an acidic gel to the intended tooth to prepare the tooth surface for bonding. The gel will be rinsed away, and the tooth will now have the proper grit to hold the sealant. The sealant will be implemented and cured with a blue light. Sealants are never a replacement for brushing and flossing, so continue your at-home regimen with diligence.
